I've previously had bad experiences before with semi permanent lash extensions so when Saks Beauty contacted me about coming in for a complimentary treatment in their new store opening here on Bristol Park Street, my first thought was to be safe and just go for a facial. But upon perusing their treatment list, I couldn't help see a new range of lash extensions I had not seen before, called 'Express Lashes' by Nouveau. My inner lash diva jumped right out and I asked if I would be able to try them out and boy, I'm glad I did. Upon application, I could tell the Nouveau lashes were totally different to what I have previously experienced from Lash extensions in the past. 

Heather, my technician made me feel very comfortable and relaxed during my treatment. Pre-treatment, we spoke about what kind of look I was after and my expectations of the lashes as to ensure I was getting the correct treatment. I advised Heather I was after a natural look but also wanted to look as if I had had my lashes done (difficult customer alert!) but she totally understood the look I was after and we agreed on a slightly longer length with more of a flare on the outer corners of my lashes - perfect! I also told Heather of my previous experiences and she assured me about how the application was going to go and aftercare instructions. The Nouveau site advises the lash application takes approximately 20-30 minutes but I was in the salon for approximately an hour - I can be a right chatterbox when I get going and me and Heather got along like a house on fire. 

The adhesive is more gentle than standard lash adhesive, it is non irritating meaning your eyes will not water when having the application done and feels much more comfortable on the eyes once application is finished. Express lashes are perfect for that special occasion such as a big party or even a wedding and boast up to 10 days wear when treated correctly. The treatment costs from £30* (dependant on how many lashes you need). You can also purchase the Nouveau Sealant which is a product you apply twice daily to lengthen the life of your lashes. It protects the adhesive bonds and adds shine, gloss and depth of colour to the lashes whilst also being Vegan Friendly. It creates a membrane that protects the glue bonding on the lashes whilst contained ingredients feed and moisturise your natural lashes. When the lashes are ready to be removed, make sure to return to the salon to get them professionally removed. Saks Bristol actually offer a free removal service ensuring the lashes are professionally removed as not to damage your own lashes in the process.

NYX has finally arrived in stores in Bristol (throws hands in the air!) and I couldn't be more excited to have access to one of the most talked about makeup brands. I did previous want to make a large order online but similar to my feelings with Kat Von D products, I didn't know what colours I'd need. I managed to pop in store the other day during some Christmas shopping time and swatch some of the colours I was looking forward to purchasing. I grabbed a few little bits but have added more to my list and thought i'd share it with you. Also if anyone out there who is buying my Christmas presents wants some ideas, two birds, one stone -winks-

I've beccome a bit of beauty box addict as of late and since my last 'disappointment' month with Birchbox I decided to try out another company. Next on the list was Cohorted's monthly box which is aimed at a slightly higher buying market than Birchbox, with a monthly cost coming in at £35,00 but promises to deliver higher quality, high end products that you wouldn't usually get in other beauty boxes. This is something that instantly drew me to this option. Although higher priced, I'd become fed up of trying the same old products box in box out and wanted something a little more 'luxury' for my money. It felt like a little sting parting with £35.00 and as the box works one month in advance - payment for this April box was taken back on the 21st of March and then delivered on the 9th of April. This may not seem like a long time but for me it felt like a LIFETIME (I can be quite impatient) The box arrived and I opened in anticipation for what the higher end box could offer me and I felt delight .. with a hint of disappointment. 

The last but largest offering from this box was the Gold Elements Nailcare Kit RRP £29.49 featuring a Hand and Nail cream, Cuticle Oil, Nail File and Buffing Block. As a self confessed nail addict, this is a nice edition to the box. The Hand Cream formula is a little thicker than I am used to but feels very luxurious when rubbed into the hands. I have yet to use the cuticle oil but it smells nice in fragrance and feels very nourishing. The only thing I have noticed with both hand products is the packaging is not the most user friendly. The Hand cream is a screw top and would be a lot better with a snap shut closure and the cuticle oil has to be squeezed out from a small opening - again a brush application would've been a nicer touch. The nail file appears to look like your usual Nail file just branded with 'Gold' and the buffing block is a nice touch that is usually a product I don't purchase but will get some use from.

Overall I was quite impressed with the Cohorted Beauty Box despite the double lip product and a few of the items not being as 'high end' as I have previously seen being offered by the company but I will continue to subscribe to see what is on offer next month.  "Dat highlight doe?!" - I've been the envy of a good highlight for a while now and have been lusting after the much loved Mary Lou Manizer from The Balm but 1.It's normally always sold out 2.When it actually is in stock I question if I'd spend £17.00 on one highlight?! 3.I repeat number 2.

I've tried all sorts of replacement options and even got round to using my Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette shade 'Bootycall' which was the PERFECT champagne highlight .. till it ran out! Damn you Naked 2 Pallette. So this lead me to go roaming through Boots and Superdrug when I came across this little beauty. The 'Makeup Revolution I <3 Makeup' range was in sight and I thought 'why not just have a little look' and there's where I spotted the most gorgeous replacement shade out of the corner of my eye. In comes the Goddess of Love Blushing Hearts Highlighter in shade 'Goddess of Faith'. When you are hunting these down there is one thing to keep in mind, the packaging for all three shades is EXACTLY THE SAME. I almost walked out the store without one as the slot for this shade was empty but something urged me to just check the back of the packaging of the one that was left in a different slot and low and behold, there was one left! 

 Now the packaging is just stunning for such a greatly priced item at only £4.99 - I was quite wowed. It's very reminiscent of Benefit/ The Balm meets Too Faced but obviously a little more flimsy than the packaging you'd expect from Too Faced. The cardboard packaging is pretty sturdy but I can't help feel they may not be 100% travel friendly so air with caution on this one. 

Goddess of Faith is a gorgeous pink toned Champagne shade that I feel would suit pretty much all skin types but glistens gorgeously on my pale but slightly tanned skin from Mexico (think NC25 or Light Beige) The product is finely milled but does have a slightly chalky texture to the formula that the Mary Lou Manizer does not so I would say you probably do get what you pay for. But I don't mind using an extra bit of blending work to get this highlight looking 'fierce'. I apply this with a small brush, to the tops of the cheekbones and then blend out with my contour/ bronzer brush. I do find it needs a little more blending than my UD Bootycall shade I was previously using but if you use a light hand and slowly build, this can look incredible. The product is very pigmented and quite long lasting but may need a top up during the day. I have however used this for a week straight and I've only just slightly grazed the top of the product so this will last quite a long time.
