I originally planned to get a large bottle of the Rose shade and a large bottle of some lilac colour which was Violet Skies. They however were not in stock .. any of them!? But they did have this little Gritty In Pinks Colour Kit which had three small bottles of shades including Awkward Peach which most pastel lovers rave about so I thought why not and purchased it for £7.00. Although the bottles look very small, I managed to get one whole application and had a little bit spare so I could mix them together to try a few colour combinations. I also picked up the White Toner as I had a few little yellowy warm shades between the band of my roots and blonde hair and I knew that the dyes wouldn't touch the roots which is fine as I wanted to keep my roots (I know most pastel ladies don't do this but I didn't want my hair to look 'wiggy')

I applied the White Toner to washed, towel dried hair and left this for around 20 minutes. I washed this out and used the Re constructive mask provided in the box which can also be purchased separately and then again towel dried my hair ready for the pastel shades. I didn't fully check the result of the White Toner but I could see that the band I was worried about had mostly disappeared and prepared myself for the pastel application. For my first little experiment, I went for a mixture of the Violet Skies and the Rose which gave me a gorgeous pinky lilac shade that in natural light threw off a Lilac shade, in artificial light threw off a Rose shade which was so gorgeous and different to what I have seen around. This did wash out pretty much almost in one wash and I was left with a very very subtle pinky purple shade which I was a little sad about but also pleased as I was unsure if I'd like the result so that fact they are so easy to remove is great for beginners or people who aren't sure. The first times I used the dyes, I let them develop for 10-15 minutes so they could probably be left a little longer which may leave a more intense and longer lasting shade. I didn't actually mix my dyes with conditioner as I've heard this can make them pretty useless as they are a wash in wash out dye, I believe they are almost shampoo based? They give a pastel result so they do not need to be pastellised so I would advise to follow instructions and simply just apply them as they are to towel dried washed hair. 

The 2nd time I used the dyes, I created a mixture of the left over Rose I had and a little bit of the Awkward Peach which gave me the most glorious pinky peach shade ever, I was so in love with it! It was just a very warm pink shade and I got so many compliments on this so I think it may be a shade I return too in the future. It's a lot less harsh than the lilac shades but I equally love these and it's just playing around with what works best for you. This is why I'm loving pastels so much, its so easy to mix the shades to get a colour unique to you and to get exactly what you want. Some people think the lilac shades can be too cool/ blue toned so you can mix in a warmer shade such as the Peach or Rose to get a warmer shade of lilac for yourself. I'm really enjoying playing with pastels and I love that they wash out within a few washes so I can experiment more, also making going back to my blonde much easier when I've lived out my pastel princess days although I don't see this being any time soon.
